EAFS Awards 2011 - Winners Announced

KIOSK LONDON EXPO 2011 provided the perfect platform for The European Association For Self-Service (EAFS) to honour this year’s high flying companies in the kiosk industry with their 2011 Awards.

Presented by EAFS President Mr Jens Schindler at a special reception at the Barbican Centre in London, three organisations won Awards for recent projects and innovations which have highlighted and increased awareness of the self-service industry.

UK company 10 Squared won Best Design for their attractive, durable and practical range of kiosks which have been used in a variety of public sectors including travel and retail.

German company FG Elektronik won Best Innovation for their innovative device, created after they began a simple research project to discover how much energy free-standing kiosks use when on permanent standby, and whether anything could be designed to cut this power consumption.  Excited by the potential following the results, they created a unique component which currently saves well over half the energy costs of running round-the-clock self-service terminals, with the likelihood that even up to 70% can be saved.  This device looks set to become a popular product component for the future, saving customer costs and the planet in the process.

The Best Government Project Award was given to Kiosk Innova, for their city-wide kiosks which assist residents all over the Turkish capital Ankara to purchase electricity for their homes.  The company are looking forward to pushing their solution out further across the country.

The Awards were presented on the evening of 19th October after the first day of the London show, to a private audience and announced to the public during the KIOSK LONDON EXPO 2011 Forum the following morning.

KIOSK LONDON EXPO 2011 took place on 19th and 20th October at the Barbican Exhibition Centre in London.  Exhibitors and visitors alike gave highly positive feedback to this new show, which amassed a large variety of people from organisations across Europe as well as in the UK.

Organisation for next year’s show and Awards are already underway with several companies already signed up as exhibitors.  It will take place in the same location, on 17th and 18th October 2012 in the follow up to the London based Olympic Games.
