EAFS Awards launched - Winners: Power Products, 3M and Fraunhofer Institute
The EAFS launched a annual Self-Service Award at this year's Kiosk Europe Expo. Three awards were presented at the gala dinner on 6th May 2009:
EAFS Self-Service Award 2009 - Category: Best Self-Service Application
Winner: Power Products s.r.o. for their First Aid Kiosk application
The board members of the EAFS have given Power Products the award for the best self-service application of 2009 in recognition of their first aid kiosk, which offers information on how to provide first aid to the public and provides defibrillation equipment together with an on-screen manual, whilst simultaneously calling emergency service in case of activation. The board was unanimously impressed with the realisation of this unprecedented idea and its high value to the public. The first aid kiosk is seen as an outstanding example of the considerable benefits self-service solutions can provide to the public.
EAFS Self-Service Award 2009 - Category: Best Technology
Winner - 3M Deutschland GmbH for its ‘Command Strip’ product’
The board has decided to present this award to 3M for their "Command Strip’ innovation – a removable sealing strip which solves a common touch screen maintenance issue as encountered in many self-service solutions. The technology reducing maintenance time and use of resources dramatically, as no specialist tools are required for fast, on-site repair of common touch screen damage.
EAFS Self-Service Award 2009 – Category: Innovation
Winner: Fraunhofer Heinrich-Hertz-Institut for their ‘Virtual Mirror’ project
Fraunhofer’s ‘Virtual Mirror’ application kiosk allows consumers to try on clothes while changing the colour or patterns of the garment via a single click on a touch screen, engaging the shopper to interact and save time simultaneously. The software-based system calculates the textiles’ structure and is then able to display a mirror image in different colours or patterns simultaneously.
Details on how to apply for next year's awards will be published in autumn on this website. To register your interest please send us an email.
